Summary: In the Kingdom of Aquila, The Evil Bishop, his Holiness CSM Spender, lust after the beautiful Prince, Mulder, whom he has had as his ward after the death of his father. Hearing tales that Mulder has fallen in love with another, Spender gives poor lonely Mulder a pet rat who is really one of Spender's slaves. Finding out that the rumors are true due to the drunken confession of Mulder's priestly tutor, Spender confronts the Captain of his Guards, Walter of Navarre and Mulder. They will not forswear their love so he curses them. Mulder will be a gyrfalcon by day and Walter, a wolf, by night. They only will glimpse their human forms for a fleeting moment when night overlaps dawn. After a brief exile, the lover's resolve to return to Aquila and face the bishop with Alex as a not entirely trusted and not altogether willing ally.
